Suite 205 – Chingawassa Springs Suite

Once named Carter’s Mineral Springs, a group of seven springs still stand just 4 miles northeast of Marion. These springs were renamed in the late 1800’s after an Osage Indian Chief, Chingawassa, meaning Handsome Bird. During the late 19th century, springs like those of Chingawassa became popular because it was believed that the mineral springs provided healing for rheumatic and kidney diseases. In 1888, the Marion Belt and Chingawassa Springs Railroad was built connecting passengers from the Santa Fe Depot to the Chingawassa Springs, and one stop on this journey was the Elgin Hotel. We think it is only fitting to theme a room to remember the famous Chingawassa Springs spa and dance hall, where many hotel guests found pleasure in traveling. For those wishing to relax and celebrate a special occasion, this 280 square foot suite features a beautiful European-styled California King-sized canopy bed, a comfortable reading chair, and an antique dresser and mirror.  To add to the romance, the private bathroom includes a 2 person Jacuzzi tub overlooking the Historic Elgin Hotel’s wedding courtyard. This bathroom is not equipped with a shower, but comes with plush robes and slippers.
